Abstract
An unsatisfactory specimen is a sample that is of poor quality in which the Newborn Screening Results may be affected by the adequacy of the sample. This paper explains the reasons a specimen is deemed unsatisfactory, what scratched or abraded means and how to prevent collecting a scratched or abraded specimen.
