Abstract
Open-Graded Friction Course (OGFC) is an asphalt mix type that is primarily used on segments of interstate routes in South Carolina to enhance safety. OGFC has an intended service life of 10 years. However, localized failures have been observed on many of South Carolina’s interstates within the first 3-5 years. This research project is intended to solve a common issue with OGFC pavements and help the SCDOT meet its goal of maintaining and preserving the existing transportation infrastructure.
