Foundation personnel conducted excavations at the Son Cemetery in Lexington County, South Carolina. This cemetery was used by the Son family from the 1860s through 1976 and was thought to contain 11 Euro-American burials. However, one infant was not identified, one vaulted burial was removed by the Barr-Price Funeral Home; ultimately nine burials were removed from the cemetery. The investigations were conducted for Lexington County in order that the property could be available for industrial development.
