South Carolina Department of Archives and History, Archives and Records Management Division
South Carolina Department of Archives and History, Archives and Records Management Division
Abstract
This public records information leaflet number 6 states that you should always inspect microfilm to ensure that it meets minimum quality standards. And if your original records are to be destroyed after being filmed, that inspection is vital. Too often government offices that fail to test their film properly find their film has deteriorated when they need the information it held years later. Only testing can ensure the durability of film and the legibility of copies made from it.
