Ruth, Charles
South Carolina Deer Research and Management Project
Abstract
The 2011 Deer Hunter survey represents the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Section’s ongoing commitment to conducting pertinent research related to the state’s white-tailed deer resource. The primary objectives of this survey research were to obtain valid estimates of (1) the statewide deer harvest in 2020, (2) the harvest of deer in the constituent counties of the state, (3) hunting effort related to deer, (4) resident and nonresident hunter activities, and (5) weapons use, weapons preference, and harvest rates by weapon type. Information on hunter opinion related to certain aspects of the deer resource as well as estimates of the wild hog and coyote harvest in the state, is also presented.
