African American Oral History Projects

These oral histories were recorded in partnership with the Lake City Senior Citizen Association, Saint Teresa Community Outreach and Empowerment, and the South Carolina State Library, initially conducted by Dr. Terrie Gaskins-Bryant, a local educator.

Saint Teresa Community Outreach and Empowerment is a grassroots community organization that cultivates and preserves the African American history of Lake City, South Carolina, and surrounding areas. It uses outreach programs and activities that seek to engage, empower, and create systemic change to help achieve its mission.
