Health Care Guidelines

In 1995, a task force comprised of knowledgeable and committed professionals was formed to develop a comprehensive set of guidelines that would provide a “best practices” resource for healthcare professionals serving individuals residing in the SCDDSN Regional Centers. In May of 1996 the first edition of the SCDDSN Healthcare Guidelines was published. These guidelines have received many revisions, with the most recent being the 5th edition.

The DDSN Health Care Guidelines manual consists of several guidelines that highlight areas of concern when providing health care to individuals with intellectual and related disabilities and provide information to nurses, physicians, and other health care providers that may assist them in making decisions about health care needs, implementing health care, and providing adequate documentation. This collection includes the various chapters and documents that make up this manual.
