South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, Division of Biostatistics, Office of Vital Records and Public Health Statistics
Abstract
This report presents data on the number of deliveries (estimated by combining live births and fetal deaths) and the numbers and rates of premature birth, fetal death, neonatal death, and perinatal death for the year 1982 and the combined years 1980-1982. These data are presented for the state of South Carolina, as well as each hospital and health district. In the majority of the tables in this report, each of the South Carolina areas and hospitals are ranked according to their level of perinatal mortality. Areas and hospitals incurring the highest perinatal death rates are given the highest ranks. In addition, data are provided for the hospitals grouped according to size of maternity service. That is, hospitals with similar delivery levels are grouped and ranked according to their levels of perinatal mortality.
