Abstract
The two most important legal recognitions for nonprofit organizations are incorporation and tax exemption. This manual is designed to be a road map for completing these two processes and to show interconnections that are not readily apparent from current sources. The manual will also show the impact incorporation and federal tax-exemption can have in fiscal and government reporting guidelines. The last section of the manual includes suggestions to help board members of nonprofit organizations fulfill their legal, fiduciary and moral obligations to their organization's constituents.
