Abstract
Before delivering payment to providers for their services, the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services negotiates and contracts with each vendor to provide services at a certain cost with set deliverables to ensure the beneficiaries receive the best care at the most reasonable cost for the citizens of South Carolina. To provide the most reliable and up to date financial data on these contracts, there are five different systems that must be utilized. Having to manually balance contracts between five different systems before providing data is not quick, easy or efficient. The goal of the data collection was to capture and investigate every resource available to ascertain whether there was a way to improve the administrative contract monitoring and reconciliation process.
