Abstract
Westinghouse Electric Company's Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF), located in Hopkins, South Carolina, has a history of uranium processing since its opening in 1969. A significant breach in its contaminated wastewater line was discovered in 2011, leading to the abandonment of the underground pipe system and the installation of new surface piping. In September 2024, another leak was confirmed in a cooling tower return line, prompting immediate repair actions. Recent groundwater monitoring indicates elevated uranium levels at monitoring well W-56, with concentrations exceeding the maximum contaminant level of 30 μg/L. However, nearby wells show either low or decreasing uranium concentrations, suggesting a localized contamination issue linked to the facility's operations. This document contains a work plan for moving forward.
