Abstract
Having recognized the serious public health threat posed by childhood obesity, in 2005 the South Carolina General Assembly signed into law Act 105, known as the Students Health and Fitness Act (S.C. Code Ann. ยงยง 59-10-10 through 59-10-380). In passing this groundbreaking comprehensive legislation, South Carolina mandated that all children in kindergarten through grade five receive 90 minutes of physical education and 60 minutes of physical activity per week.
