Abstract
The title of these books reflects the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control’s vision for the future of South Carolina, healthy people living in healthy communities. The long-term goals from the agency’s Strategic Plan are defined and addressed within each broad chapter subject. The goals reflect our role as the state’s public health and environmental agency in carrying out the three core functions of public health: assessment, policy development, and assurance.
