A Preliminary Assessment of the Groundwater Conditions in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester Counties, South Carolina.

South Carolina. Bureau of Water
Abstract
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (Department) has been requested to designate the Trident Area, consisting of Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester Counties, as a Capacity Use Area. Comprehensive groundwater investigations in the Trident area have documented progressive water-level declines, salt-water intrusion, and an increasing demand on groundwater resources as a result of rapid industrial and commercial growth, particularly along Highways 52 and 17-A, between Charleston and Moncks Corner. This report investigates the conditions in the Trident area that warrant designation as a Capacity Use Area.
