Abstract
The state’s Medicaid program provides basic health care coverage for approximately 850,000 South Carolinians at an annual cost of about $4 billion. The program provides critical care for our youngest and oldest citizens. The program experienced some positive developments over the last fiscal year. The most significant was a growth rate of only 5.8% that is down sharply from previous years.
