    This information packet is intended for professionals who work with children in institutional settings. Its purpose is to aid in the understanding of mandatory child abuse reporting laws. This publication provides information that will help a childcare worker who is employed in an institutional setting recognize child abuse and neglect and report suspected child abuse and neglect in accordance with state law. This publication also contains an overview of the manner in which child abuse and neglect reports are processed by the South Carolina Department of Social Services and by law enforcement.
