dc.descriptionThis pamphlet describes the Manchester State Forest. Manchester State Forest, located in southeastern Sumter County, consists of 28,830 acres. Most of this area is made up of infertile, light sands1nterspersed with swamps and bays. This land was acquired by the federal government during the depression years of the early 1930's. Operations as a state forest began as a Land Utilization Project under the Resettlement Administration in 1935.
