The problem area is to outline a process to actively recoup over paid Medicare premiums. In the early 1990's there was a specific position designed to the Medicare recoupment process. The objective in this paper is as follows: (1) define a Medicare recoupment process, (2) identify a percentage of recoupment that has been identified by a random sample of Medicaid reports and (3) justify that State dollars could be save and pay for a Program Assistant's salary and fringe benefits to perform recoupment related functions.Collections
