The DOT would like to provide Contractors an easier way to view letting plans in an effort to increase awareness of DOT projects. Currently, contractors must purchase plans to determine if they wish to bid on a particular project. Because one set of plans can cost several hundred dollars, smaller contractors may not be willing to make this investment. By providing plans electronically free or at a low costs, we anticipate increased exposure which should help increase competition and, therefore, lower construction cost. The purpose of this CPM project is to research the different possibilities for providing plans on the Internet and to determine the need for this service.
