In March 2005 the South Carolina State Library conducted a salary and benefits study of full-time public library staff holding master’s degrees from programs of library and information studies accredited by the American Library Association. Libraries were asked to report the actual salary paid to each full-time person in each of 6 categories. Data was received for 11,341 full time staff. The 6 library position categories are: Director, Deputy Director, Department Head/Coordinators/Senior Managers, Managers/Supervisors of Support Staff, Librarians Who Do Not Supervise and Beginning Librarians.Collections
