This is a directory for schools in South Carolina published for the 1941-1942 school year. Personnel information includes main addresses of institutions and individual names. The directory includes a listing of chief administrators and personnel for the State Board of Education. The directory also lists county supervisors, members of county boards of education and county superintendents, and lists chairmen and secretaries on boards of trustees in each high school district. The directory includes a listing of agricultural, trade and industry, and home economics teachers, as well as adult education teachers, Jeanes teachers, and county attendance teachers. The directory lists personnel of main organizations, such as the South Carolina Education Association and the South Carolina Congress of Parents and Teachers. The directory lists superintendents and principals by county. The directory also includes a listing of colleges and college presidents, organized by state, private, and/or denominational institution, as well as a listing of special schools, orphanages, and junior colleges. This listing also denotes type of college (men-only, women-only, or co-ed). The directory lists elementary and high schools, organized alphabetically by county. This listing includes brief school statistics, such as the numbers of students enrolled and the numbers of teachers. The enrollment statistics come from the 1940-1941 school year. The directory lists of United States superintendents, organized alphabetically by state.
