This is a directory for all the schools in South Carolina from the 1945-1946 school year. The directory includes a listing of state personnel, organized by state boards, divisions, departments, and major organizations. State personnel information includes main addresses of institutions, individual names, and addresses for staff. The directory also lists contact information for South Carolina area industrial education. This directory includes a section for SC State Department of Education members who were financially supported by the General Education Board of New York, and special programs, such as the Food Production War Training Program and the War Production Training Program. The directory also covers a listing of county and local school personnel including: county superintendents, members of county boards of education, vocational and agricultural teachers, and Jeanes teachers. The directory includes a listing of elementary and high schools alphabetically organized by county. This listing includes brief school statistics, such as the numbers of students enrolled and the numbers of teachers. The enrollment statistics come from the 1944-1945 school year. The directory also includes a listing of state, private, and denominational colleges with name, type of school (men-only, women-only, or co-ed), and whether the school is a state, private, or denominational institution. The directory lists miscellaneous schools and orphanages and a chart of state and territorial superintendents with official titles.
