South Carolina State Board of Medical Examiners
    Subject
    Stem cells--Therapeutic use--South Carolina; Advisory opinions--South Carolina
The Board has observed a significant increase in the number of medical clinics offering stem cell therapy over a relatively short period of time and is concerned that some practitioners providing stem cell therapy are not practicing good, evidence-based medicine. The Board is concerned that some practitioners are unaware of, or indifferent to, the regulation of this therapy by the FDA. For these reasons, the Board concludes that it is necessary to issue this Advisory Opinion.
