dc.description.abstractBetween February 21 and March 3, 2011 Chicora Foundation personnel conducted historical research and field assessments at cemeteries located at the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida. This institution is Florida’s oldest mental institution, founded in 1876. Prior to that it served as Florida’s first penitentiary from 1868 to 1876 and even earlier it was a U.S. armory.
