This study reports on an intensive cultural
resources survey of a small portion of Murphy
Island in Charleston County and an equally
limited area of Cedar Island in Georgetown
County, both on the Santee River. The work was
conducted to assist Jim Westerhold and the S.C.
Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR)
comply with Section 106 of the National Historic
Preservation Act and the regulations codified in
36CFR800.
