The purposes of this study are two-fold. The first is to gather sufficient information on two sites -- the Elfe plantation, 38BK207, and the Sanders plantation, 38CH321 -- to allow their nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. The information required includes both historical documentation of the property and archaeological evidence of the site's ability to contribute information exclusive of the historical record. The second purpose is to increase our data base concerning both eighteenth and nineteenth century plantations in close proximity to Charleston.
