The purpose of this strategy is to guide the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control's efforts to evaluate the impact of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances on the state's drinking water. This document presents a strategy for acquisition of empirical data to evaluate (1) the presence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in South Carolina drinking water and (2) the portion of the population that may be exposed to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in drinking water. This information will lead to a better understanding of potential health concerns and more informed decisions regarding the need to regulate these substances in drinking water and the environment.
