This study uses a variety of cartographic resources to identify potential archaeological and historical resources in Beaufort County. A total of 450 potential historical sites were identified through this study. The goal of this research is to document the usefulness and cost-effectiveness of this approach as an initial planning tool. It is intended to guide, not replace, both intensive historical research and in-field surveys.
