The scope of work for this project was devised by Ms. Terry Harper at Historic Sites and essentially was a continuation of the previous 1985 goals of preservation, restoration, stabilization and reconstruction. Specifically, the archaeological investigations
were (1) to partially excavate the two rock rubble features identified during the 1985 investigations and to complete the excavations in a square where a chilean mill has previously prevented excavations, (2) to excavate and expose the foundation all along the east side of the structure and to expose a short section of the wall along the north side of the structure, and (3) to excavate several features identified in the later structures during the 1985 study.
