In accordance with the Read to Succeed Act, the SCDE developed the initial State Reading Plan in 2015. The State Reading Plan lists eight core actions the state will undertake to improve literacy performance statewide. These actions reflect an intentional focus on the teaching of reading for all students, with intervention strategies to support struggling readers. Progress is updated annually.
