dc.description.abstract	28.7 percent South Carolina's recycling rate ; 1.46 pounds recycled per person per day ; 1.3 million tons of paper, aluminum cans, plastic bottles and other material recycled ; 534 pounds recycled by each South Carolinian this year ; 22,000 jobs provided by 520+ companies in the states' recycling industry ; $13 billion annual impact of recycling in S.C. ; 575+ recycling drop-off centers across the state ; 85 curbside recycling programs by S.C. municipalities ; No. 1 item recycled was paper -- making up 26 percent of all items recycled ; 20+ million tons recycled in S.C. since 2001.
