Education Oversight Committee

The South Carolina Education Oversight Committee was created in 1998 with the passage of the Education Accountability Act (EAA) of 1998 and reviews the state's education improvement process and makes recommendations to the General Assembly and state agencies. The committee is made up of 18 educators, business people, and elected officials who have been appointed by the legislature and governor and is charged with encouraging continuous improvement in SC public schools, approving academic content standards and assessments, and establishing the state's educational accountability system.
