The parent survey was designed in 2001 to meet the requirements of the Education Accountability Act and the Parental Involvement in Their Children‘s Education Act. In 2011 the number of parent surveys completed and returned totaled 73,755, a 6.2 percent increase in the number of surveys completed and returned in the prior school year. The results of the 2011 parent survey demonstrate that, despite a significant increase in the number of parents responding, parent satisfaction levels with the three characteristics measured - the learning environment, home and school relations and social and physical environment of their child’s school—were consistent with the prior year’s results.
