dc.descriptionThe South Carolina Reading Achievement Systemic Initiative was created by Proviso 1A.46 in the 2011-2012 Appropriations Act to provide recommendations to the General Assembly on how to address the pervasive issue of illiteracy among the youth in the State. This paper includes their seven recommendations. Also included is a booklet entitled Double jeopardy, how third-grade reading skills and poverty influence high school graduation.
