South Carolina American Revolution Bicentennial Commission
The South Carolina American Revolution Bicentennial Commission was established by the Legislature in 1971 to insure that "appropriate efforts are made at the state level to stimulate and excite active interest throughout South Carolina in properly celebrating the two hundredth anniversary of the founding of the Nation" (1974-1975 Annual Report). The commission included a 13-member body and staff support through the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism and the Department of Archives and History.
