Abstract
Description
This brochure describes the Johns Island Quilting Cooperative. Twice a week this group of ten to twenty-five senior citizens gathers around a table at Rural Mission Headquarters on Johns Island, South Carolina. Each woman works on her own collection of colorfully variegated squares and then together the group hand-ties each quilt and sews it to a backing. Each member of the Cooperative is compensated for her time and receives a share of the profits when one of her quilts is sold.
