The Arts in Basic Curriculum Project is an initiative begun in the state of South Carolina in 1987. It is a collaborative effort funded and run by the South Carolina Arts Commission, the South Carolina Department of Education, and Winthrop University. The stated goal of the Project is "to ensure that every child in South Carolina, from preschool through college levels, has access to a quality, comprehensive education in the arts, including dance, drama, music, visual arts, and creative writing."
