South Carolina State Documents Depository

The South Carolina State Documents Depository provides access to publications produced by state agencies and state-supported academic institutions. These publications provide citizens with crucial information about state government, including statistics, annual accountability reports, and data on a wide variety of topics related to the state. Items in the State Documents Depository include both print publications and “born digital” documents often originally published on agency websites.

  • South Carolina Electronic Records Archive (SCERA) The South Carolina Department of Archives and History created this repository to hold the electronic records transferred by state and local government agencies to the Archives for permanent retention. Within this repository you will also find digitized copies of physical records held at the Archives and made accessible online.

  • South Carolina State Government Web Archive Many key publications and information about the functions of agencies can only be found on their websites. Starting in 2007, the South Carolina Department of Archives and History began using the web archiving tool, Archive-It, to preserve state agency websites. Websites created by state agencies are public records and preserving them is part of the mission of the Department of Archives. Use this tool to research state agency websites and web pages from the past.
