Standards for South Carolina public libraries

South Carolina State Library
Abstract
Standards for South Carolina Public Libraries was seen essentially as a planning tool for use by public library decision makers. The objectives are to provide a generally accepted means for assessing the quality and effectiveness of library services. The need for a planning tool is ongoing, but in response to suggestions and feedback from librarians, a goal for the 2012 revision is to provide simpler language and clear quantifiable guidelines which will enable librarians to convey the standards to non-library decision makers.
