Abstract
This study was commissioned to determine the volume and impact of port-related truck traffic on the level of service of Charleston area highways (I-26 and I-526), and to identify and evaluate possible mitigation measures to alleviate the impact of such port-related truck traffic. This study was initiated to specifically identify the: Quantity and nature (origins/destinations, routing) of port-related truck traffic in the Charleston area; Means of mitigating the impact of that traffic; and Relevant costs and benefits of those actions, including possible “inland port” locations.
