Abstract
This study was conducted as a result of a report that the Brown Cemetery, in the MaryviIle area of Charleston, west of the Ashley River, had been damaged. A brief reconnaissance to the cemetery allowed the condition to be photographically documented Subsequently, a brief examination of archival and ownership records was conducted at the Charleston County Register of Mesne Conveyances and the South Carolina Historical Society.
