Abstract
South Carolina is home to a well-established and growing plastics industry that includes both materials production and processing. The majority of plastics manufacturers in South Carolina engage in both imports and exports. Domestically, South Carolina-based plastics manufacturers and processors benefit from the state’s central location in the Southeastern region. The region has growth rates in disposable income and retail sales that exceed those of the United States. Therefore, South Carolina and the Southeast region represent a strong end market for plastic parts and products.
