Abstract
The City of Cayce hires candidates with little or no experience, and we encourage them to obtain certifications in water distribution and wastewater collection on their own. Our current staffing consists of 31 positions for the Wastewater Collection and W ater Distribution Departments. We encourage employees to obtain an A level certification in both Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection (Dual A Certification), but employees hold varying certifications ranging from dual A Level Certification to no ce rtification at all. This paper aims to show that developing and implementing an inter nal apprenticeship program will be beneficial for the City of Cayce, the employees, and the community.
