Traffic Calming Guidelines Revised 2019

South Carolina Department of Transportation
Abstract
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) maintains one of the largest state highway systems in the nation. The majority of these roads are secondary routes that can be classified as minor collectors or local streets. Many of these roadways serve property that is zoned as residential. As such, SCDOT receives numerous requests from local governments and individuals to address the cut-through and speeding traffic within neighborhoods. In an effort to mitigate these problems, SCDOT has developed Traffic Calming Guidelines to assist local governments in addressing these concerns.
