Abstract
The purpose of the Career and Technology Centers That Work school improvement initiative is to: expand students’ opportunities to learn a rigorous academic core and a career/technical concentration that is taught in ways that enable students to see the usefulness of what they have been asked to learn ; create supportive relationships between students and adults ; work as teacher advisers with parents, students, and home high schools to set goals and to help students take the right courses to complete a program of study that prepares them for postsecondary studies and careers ; establish common planning time and professional development aligned with school improvement plans that focus on providing quality teaching and learning activities.
