Abstract
Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) has become a national initiative for various reasons, including the fact that FAFSA completion is an indicator of postsecondary enrollment. The FAFSA serves as the application for federal aid to allow opportunities for students in financial need to access postsecondary education. In 2006, CHE was awarded a three-year grant from the Lumina Foundation, a non-profit education policy foundation committed to increasing the number of Americans with high-quality degrees, certificates, and other credentials, to implement College Goal Sunday in South Carolina. College Goal Sunday, aims to increase the number of college-bound students who complete the FAFSA. In 2016, the program was renamed College Goal South Carolina (CGSC). Registration for CGSC events this cycle began in September 2022 and coincided with the release of the 2023-24 FAFSA on October 1, 2022.
