Abstract
As of January 10, 2021, more than 22
million Americans have been infected
with SARS-CoV-2 and nearly 370,000
Americans have died as a result. As
of the same date, one in every 1,000
South Carolinians have died from
the virus. Beyond mortality, many
physicians also caution about the
long-lasting physical consequences
such as respiratory, cardiovascular and
neurological impairment due to damage
to vital tissue. This document reviews the available data on the
coronavirus pandemic over the course
of 2020 and its impact throughout
