Abstract
This regulation emphasizes the significance of critical areas in the state and the need for balanced development. The rules and regulations aim to mitigate the loss of important coastal resources while meeting developmental needs. The general considerations for assessing project impacts in these areas encompass aspects such as economic enhancement, obstruction of water flow, impact on marine life, erosion, public access, habitats, economic benefits, environmental safeguards, and adjacent property value. The Department's decisions on permit applications are influenced by policy directives and considerations outlined in Sections 48-39-20 and 48-39-30.
