Abstract
In its strategic planning cycle, Midlands Technical College collects and interprets relevant information about important influences on the college’s future and uses this information to address opportunities that lie ahead. The first step in this dynamic, collaborative and continuous process is the completion of an environmental scan. Environmental scanning is the systematic evaluation of MTC’s external and internal environments. Its goal is to identify, clarify, evaluate and prioritize issues and trends that could impact the future direction and success of the college.
