Abstract
1.20 pounds of material is recycled per person per day in the state. In FY16, each South Carolinian recycled 439 pounds of material. 1,094,569 tons of paper, aluminum cans, plastic bottles and other material were recycled in FY16. South Carolinians recycle about 211,342 tons of paper annually – more than any other recycled material. Nearly 20 million tons of material have been recycled since 2001. The state recycles 25.4% of its waste. There are more than 22,000 recycling-related jobs in South Carolina.
